Eating out, snacking and long travel times tend to cut into green living. So, how do you stay green while traveling on vacation? Here are four ways that you can maintain your green life while enjoying your vacation adventure.

Stainless Steel Water Bottle

An insulated stainless steel water bottle will save you money and keep you hydrated. It will also keep you away from sugary drinks. A stainless steel water bottle is easy to carry and can be carried on a plane if it is empty. Once you pass through security, you can fill your bottle and be on your way.

Eat Locally

When you eat out during vacation, dine at locations that are local instead of chains. These local dining establishments cost less and boost the local economy. Think about it, one of the leading ways to live a green lifestyle at home is to buy locally. Why change that when you are traveling? Buy locally, eat locally and enjoy local foods where you are.

Leave a Better Place

A great way to help the environment and leave a better place behind is to plant a tree, fruit or vegetable plant behind. Find a small park or other area and leave a gift for nature that will give to the community for decades after you are gone.

Perform the 3 R’s

Reduce, reuse, recycle is the standard for green living and that should not change when you are traveling. Find a recycling station and drop off hotel shampoo bottles and plastic cups. Rinse and reuse cups or bottles during your stay and recycle on the way out. By rinsing and reusing plastic cups, forks, spoons and knives you are also reducing waste. By recycling the reused items you are reducing waste in landfills and living green while traveling.
