We follow fashion updates based on what real housewives are wearing. We follow the latest diets and food options based on contest based weight loss shows. What broadcasting stations put out there for the general public makes or breaks trends, sales and lifestyle choices. Luckily, some networks are picking up on the importance of the environment and green living. Here are four shows spreading the green living bug to their viewers. One or two may even surprise you.

Dallas

That’s right the primetime soap opera of the 80s is back and it is packing some green. This time the green isn’t just lining the pockets of the shows main characters. So, how is it spreading the green living vibe? The battle between bio-fuel and oil. One man wants to bring the Ewing name back on top with bio-fuel while the other wants to do it through United States based oil production. It’s not all drama, fist fights and rodeos either. The show, in just a few episodes, has already brought up the big debating issues of bio-fuel and how it may not be as ecologically safe as we once thought. It also brings up questions like is the environment more important that humanity and the differences between different elements of bio-fuel.

Dual Survival

Moving into their third season, this survival based show brings their own element of green to the table. Included in their survivalist topics and how to based shows the team of Cody Lundin and Dave Canterbury also discuss methods of surviving while doing as little harm to the environmental landscape as possible. Green tips for daily living like recycling rain water and the use of solar power are also discussed in bits and pieces throughout the show.

Deadlist Catch

This one make shock a few readers but the fact is that if you are interested in marine biology and the oceanic environmental protection alternatives, this show may be what you are looking for. Though it is filled with the typical reality show jargon you  will find out little tidbits regarding how crab fishing can harm the environment but how it can also help the environment. Apparently, it is all in the method of fishing that is used.

Doomsday Preppers

This is another show that may shock a few readers. Most viewers tune into the show for comedy entertainment or to see what the big deal with doomsday prepping is. The show has its own bit of green living flare that comes in bursts. Various preppers will show how they are taking care of their family and working towards whatever doomsday prophecy they believe in. In the process they actually promote certain green lifestyles like going off the grid, using solar power and even how to create your own bio-fuel.
