Baby Deer Rescued By Dog Receives All The Care She Needs
[SWEET]
On December 9, 2016, a dog found a baby deer in a woodland area near Wymondham, Norfolk. Jess the Labrador surprised her owners that day when she brought the fawn home with her. Fortunately, the Labrador was trained and caused no harm to the deer. Jess’s owners brought the fawn to the Hillside Animal Sanctuary in Frettenham, United Kingdom, where she was named Tinsel.
Chris Lehrbach, the sanctuary’s vet, said that Tinsel was just days or weeks old when Jess's owners brought her to the clinic. It remains a mystery as to what happened to the fawn’s mother, but luckily she was rescued and brought to the Hillside Animal Sanctuary. Tinsel is now living a happy life in the sanctuary, feeding on goat’s milk and bonding with the staff. She has grown fond of those who care for her, which makes it harder for her to safely return back to the wild. However, since Tinsel is a non-native species of deer in the UK (Muntjac), the sanctuary cannot return her to the wilderness. So now, Tinsel will stay at the sanctuary and be well taken care of for the rest of her life.
The Hillside Animal Sanctuary is considered “one of the UK’s most successful campaigning organizations for the animals’ cause.” They house over 2,000 animals and continue to take in rescued and abused animals.
