Exercise & Fitness
A healthy lifestyle includes eating right and taking care of your body through physical exercise and fitness. Trying to stay fit and active in a green environment has its benefits. Being green and fit is the perfect combination for a healthy lifestyle.
Eat Right
Part of a healthy routine is eating right. To have the energy needed to exercise and improve your fitness level, you’re going to need to make sure you are putting the right foods into your system. By eating organic foods, and loading up on veggies, leafy greens, fruits, and proteins, and supplementing your diet with vitamins and natural minerals, you can start your workout off on the right foot.
Be Active
Simple choices can majorly impact your physical health. Choosing little options like taking the stairs over the escalator can make a big impact on your health. These healthy choices are often the more eco-friendly choice, so by making the healthy choice for yourself, you are also making the better choice for the planet. A healthy lifestyle can be made with these simple choices to be more active.
Get Outside
A green lifestyle also commonly correlates with a healthy lifestyle. If you’re committed to staying active and working out, consider your options before hitting up the gym. While many machines like treadmills and elliptical can help you improve your cardio, there is nothing quite like the fresh air and view of the great outdoors. Next time you consider going for a run, hit the trails or your neighborhood sidewalk and skip the gym. This will be a healthier options for your body, cheaper for your wallet, and will cut down on the amount of energy used by the local fitness center.
If running or jogging is not your go to type of exercise, there are many other outdoor activities to do. To get in your cardio for the day, go for a bike ride, lace up those roller blades, or go for a nice swim. Even if the weather is getting colder, there are still plenty of outdoor activities to keep your heart rate up, like snowboarding or cross-country skiing.
If you prefer a more mellow type of exercise, there are still plenty of outdoor options for you. Whether you prefer to work out alone, with a friend, or in a class setting, parks and beaches are great for yoga and Pilate’s workouts. Check with your local park district and gyms to see if any classes are offered near you, or grab a blanket and get in a nice relaxing workout in your lonesome. There is nothing more peaceful than yoga in a quiet park setting.
