The truth is, there are only a few requirements that may be required of a business or home to receive a green living stamp of approval. Here are four aspects to green homes or businesses that help achieve the green approval rating.

Low Energy Use or Consumption

If a business or home can reduce their energy use or overall consumption by  a large percentage, then they may be able to receive a green rating or green approval. The way that a home or business can do this is by changing out anything that is not energy efficient to an energy efficient alternative. The second step would be to unplug electronics when not in use. It is estimated that by unplugging computers at night, rather than simply turning them off, a family can save up to 40 percent on their monthly energy bill.

Use of Recycled Materials

If a business or home chooses to use a large amount of recycled materials, then they may receive the green approval rating. By using recycled paper products and recycled business products a business or home can not only save money, but also provide a green atmosphere for their home, business and even local community.

Water Consumption

Reducing the use of water, consumption of water and waste of water a business or home will most likely get a green approval rating. By simply using a rainwater catch to water flowers, gardens and lawns a family can save a considerable amount on their water bill each month. Reducing the amount of water consumed will not only help the environment but it will also help reduce the monthly water bill by as much as 25 or more percent.

Overall Management

If the overall management of a business or home is centered on green living then that home or business will meet green approval standards. The reason for this is due to the fact that concentrating on the end goal of being green will allow the rest of the green tasks and aspects of daily living to follow. If you think green you will be green and live a greener lifestyle as a result.
