Green Vacation Ideas

3 300x244 Green Vacation Ideas Summer means the chance to enjoy nature, break away from the stresses of daily life and enjoy time off with friends and family. This summer, instead of doing the same old vacation, try creating a green vacation for you and your family to enjoy. These are just three ideas that can bring a green vacation to life right at your backdoor.

Off Grid Camping

You may be thinking that camping is already an off grid activity, but to some it isn’t. When we say off grid camping we mean it. No electronics, no frills, no fancy camping equipment. For a true off grid experience take you, a sleeping bag, a tent, basic survival tools and a cell phone for emergencies only. Make sure to bring a solar charger for your cell phone just in case there is an emergency and you need to keep your phone charged. Enjoy fishing, hunting and camping out under the stars with no connections to the outside world for just a weekend. You would be surprised what that could do for your stress levels.

Green Retreats

There are tons of organizations that offer green retreats. These retreats last anywhere from a few days to an entire week and are usually held on campground style sites. The time is spent learning about green living ideas, sharing ideas and cultivating green living communities. This type of retreat vacation is a great way to get your kids involved in green living and expose them to different aspects of the green living lifestyle.

Commune Summer Retreats

The idea of communial living is becoming increasingly popular all over the world. It seemed to die out during the late 70s, but there are still groups that enjoy the idea of the lifestyle. Many of this communities offer summer retreats where you can spend an entire summer living off the grid, learning about green living, and enjoying what nature has to offer. Some of these communities even offer full year courses like the Teaching Drum School and full season courses like 3HO’s Kundalini Yoga certification courses. If you are a college student or a recent high school graduate who is interested in green living, this may be the perfect vacation idea for you.
