How to Collect and Reuse Water
Through green living media and several survival shows that have appeared in last few years, the option of collecting and reusing water has become increasingly popular. However, many individuals still do not know how to collect and reuse water properly and the methods that are available to them for the collection and reuse of rainwater and other water in the home. The following are a few ways that you can use to collect and reuse water to benefit the community, ecology and your home life.
Rain Barrels
Rain barrels are one of the easiest ways to collect and reuse water. Rain barrels can be placed outside underneath an eve or at the end of a drainage area from a roof. These rain barrels are open on the top and will allow water to drain directly into the barrel itself. This type of barrel has a spout on the bottom which will allow for easy drainage and removal of the water. You can utilize this water in gardens, plant and animal watering and in various other areas of your outside living space. In dire situations, you can also take this water and boil it to purify the water and make it into usable drinking water.
Reusing Food Water
Reusing food water is another way to capture and collect water for reuse. If you boil eggs, boil pasta, have left over coffee water or have leftover tea water all of this can be captured and reused for water conservation. In fact, this kind of water can be resued to help flush toilets, water plants and for other usages around home. This is one of the easiest ways to conserve water and make sure that you are not wasting water that is perfectly usable.
Bath Water
One of the latest methods in collecting and reusing water is to utilize bathwater properly. For example, if you have several children you can have them all use the same bathwater by taking baths together or by having one child take a bath and the others followed. This conserves a large amount of water in larger families and can help reduce water bills as well as conserve water and make a smaller ecological footprint. There are many ways that you can conserve and reuse water throughout the home in order to create a greener and more sustainable lifestyle. All of these methods will allow you to utilize less water, reduce your energy bills and reuse as much water as possible in as many ways as possible.
