Mei Yan is a panda keeper/nanny who takes care of the baby pandas born in China’s Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding. One of her tasks is to clean panda habitats, which is always more difficult than it needs to be. Nanny Yan tries to clean the panda habitat, only to be bothered by the panda cubs over and over again. She can barely make it through the door because of baby panda mob she has to distract just so they don’t block the entrance.
While most of the panda cubs preoccupy themselves, two mischievous cubs decide to cause some trouble. They find great pleasure in playing with the metal dust pan, pink broom and woven basket for the fallen leaves. The panda cubs get a kick out of knocking the basket over and rolling around inside. Even when the basket is full of leaves, they’re determined to get in there. In some instances they’ll even bite nanny Yan’s hands.
Nanny Yan is determined to finish cleaning up their habitat, but the two cubs continue to pester her. She has to continually carry them onto the grass or hold them down to prevent them from grabbing the basket or dust pan. As playful as it may seem, these panda cubs make the cleaning process more of a war than a simple employee task. But at the end of the day, nanny Yan prevails and successfully sweeps up the leaves.
