The United States Department of Energy works to keep the country safe, secure, and fully sustained by working to solve all issues with energy, electricity, the environment, as well as looking into the use of nuclear energy. The United State Department of Energy supports their efforts with scientific research and technological solutions to fix these issues within the environment. The United States Department of Energy funds and supports both state and national initiatives to work towards a more sustainable country. Some of the projects they support are engineering solutions to make better use of energy and create and use more renewable resources. The committee also works to ensure that the United States has nuclear security and that the use of these materials is safe to both the citizens of the country as well as the environment. Currently, Doctor Ernest Moniz is the secretary of energy, alongside Doctor Elizabeth Sherwood-Randall, the deputy-secretary of energy. While the main headquarters of the United States Department of Energy resides in Washington, D.C, there are also 24 laboratories within the United States along with four power marketing administrations, as well as numerous field and program offices all with the mission to provide resources and find solutions to improve the energy use and sustainability of the country.
