The City of Dallas is one of the largest cities within the state of Texas, and is also the 9th largest city in the country. The city is located within the central part of the state, close to the northeast corner of Texas. The population of Dallas is over 1.2 million people strong, and the city consistently get over 44 million visitors each year, making it the number one visitor destination in the state of Texas. Dallas is known for being the home of the Dallas Cowboys, a team within the national football league. The Cowboys Stadium is one of the largest football stadiums in the world. Dallas is also the site of several historic buildings and museums including the Old Red Museum, the Dallas City Hall, The Dallas Museum of Art, The Winspear Opera House, The Perot Museum of Nature and Art, and more. The city of Dallas is a prominent spot for business, and has 18 different Fortune 500 corporations located with offices in the city. The current mayor of the city is Mike Rawlings, who serves as the 61st mayor of Dallas. The city was formed in 1841 by John Neely Bryan before the state of Texas was even annexed by the country. Dallas was officially incorporated as a city on February 2, 1856.
