The Montgomery County Clean Energy Buyers Group works out of the town of Rockville, located within Montgomery County in Maryland, is a coalition of government and social service groups within Montgomery County area working to help improve the standards of the local environment through the use of wind energy and other clean energy methods. The group was formed in 2004, and has since worked to encourage the community groups to purchase electricity supply that has been generated from wind energy. The Montgomery County Clean Energy Buyers Group partners with organization like the Montgomery County Government, Montgomery County Public Schools, Montgomery College, the Maryland National Capital Park and Planning Commission, and more. These places follow the guidelines set by the group and work to improve the energy use of the building and institutions under their rule. The group currently has 70 percent of their power defined as a clean energy resource and is working to consistently improve their community’s standards. They consistently work to purchase certified green power energy products, and commits their groups to these standards as well. The group received an award or the 2014 partner of the year, and continues to push their efforts to reach out to more organization within the community to better the environment and reduce the use of energy in their community.
